Tribune Launches Opinion Blog
The Star Tribune in Minneapolis has recently started a blog to encourage dialogue between editorial staff and readers.
Editor & Publisher reports that the Opinion Exchange page provides a forum for users and editorial board members to discuss the latest issues and hot topics.
The blog is updated regularly and aims to encourage debate through its posts and comment sections.
“Opinion journalism especially depends on give-and-take and timeliness,” said commentary editor Eric Ringham.
He added: “We need to be engaging with readers when they are interested.
“We shouldn’t ask the reader to wait until Wednesday to discuss news that happened on Monday.”
The editorial team also selects highlights from the opinion blog to publish in the following day’s newspaper.
